Jim Komondy commercial litigation, municipal, criminal, and domestic law

Your advisor and advocate

A graduate of the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the University of Michigan Law School, Jim's legal focus is in the areas of riparian and tax litigation, and municipal and criminal law where he has developed extensive expertise assisting municipalities with a variety of issues including ordinance drafting, contract negotiations, zoning, and Freedom of Information Act requests. Jim frequently assists our clients with prosecuting both criminal and civil municipal ordinance violations and has successfully represented their interests in a wide variety of areas, ranging from evidentiary hearings to jury trials and everything in between.

Much of Jim's practice concerns challenges faced by waterfront property owners in boundary disputes, quiet title actions, deed restrictions, adverse possession, riparian rights, easements, road ends and access issues.

Jim also has extensive experience handling property tax appeals for respondents in matters involving assessed values, taxable values, and exemptions.

Finally, Jim also practices at the appellate level; in both the circuit court where he has worked successfully to uphold the ordinances of local municipalities against constitutional and evidentiary challenges, and in the Court of Appeals, where he has successfully defended clients in matters ranging from easement disputes and riparian rights to defamation and invasion of privacy to the enforcement of buy-sell agreements.

Jim sees himself as both an advisor and advocate for his clients and offers an aggressive, yet practical approach, allowing him to present the strongest possible case.
